For all those who enthusiastically follow the mobile market, you will know that today the presentation of the new flagships of the popular Korean manufacturer was scheduled, and samsung has not disappointed in the least. Without further ado, today we will learn what the Samsung galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 ultra they have to offer.
Taking the base model as a reference point, we are facing a trio of devices with a matte glass finish on the back and a metal frame. Naturally, all three devices are IP68 certified, so there’s not much to worry about in the water.
Galaxy S22
Going into details, the base Samsung Galaxy S22 sports a Dynamic screen 6.1-inch AMOLED 2X with FullHD+ resolution and smooth refresh rate from 10 to 120hz (varies by task). As if that were not enough, it has an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, a 240Hz touch sampling rate with game mode activated and guarantees low blue light emission with the Eye Comfort Shield filter.
The hardware is the most interesting this year. The entire lineup mounts a Eyxnos 2200 4nm processor which is proudly accompanied by a AMD GPU based on RDNA 2 architecture which promises 40% higher graphics performance than the previous generation.
When it comes to memory options, Samsung takes a step back this year; both the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+ are limited to 8GB of RAM next to 128GB or 256GB internal storage.
In another order of ideas, the Galaxy S22 receives the smallest battery in the entire family. It offers a capacity of 3,700mAh and the fast charging has a power of 25Wbut if it is charged wirelessly the value drops to 15W.
To no one’s surprise, android 12 is the operating system of choice for the Samsung Galaxy S22 family and is combined with the user interface OneUI 4.1 from Samsung. It also goes without saying that everyone lifts 5G connectivityas well as Wi-Fi6, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC with Samsung Pay.
On a photographic level, a triple module awaits us headed by a 50MP sensor with OIS, which is backed by a 12MP ultra-wide camera with a 120° field of view and a 10MP telephoto lens that adds 3X optical zoom. For its part, the selfie camera is 10MP with F2.2 aperture.
Samsung Galaxy S22+
The middle brother is considerably different from the base model, but mainly on the outside. In this sense, it is noticeably larger, having dimensions of 75.8 x 157.4 x 7.6mm and a weight of 196 grams, which is due to the 6.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panelwhich retains the same properties as its smaller brother, including resolution and refresh rate.
That said, at the hardware level it is identical to the previous one, but with one key difference: the battery, which increases its capacity to 4,500mAh and the power of charge at 45W With cable. Wireless charging remains unchanged and support for USB-IF and Wireless PowerShare is present on all models.
In the photographic department there is no change from the base model, so we can turn our attention to the Ultra model.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra
Without a doubt, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is the undisputed protagonist of the lineup and is the one that has the most changes or, rather, improvements. Starting with the design, this hulking device looks more like a member of the Note family, with dimensions of 163.3 x 77.9 x 8.9mm and a weight of 227 grams, not to mention the 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with curved glass, QuadHD resolution (3080×1440 pixels), HDR10+ and Gorilla Glass Victus glass.
Not only is it noticeably larger, but it also makes cosmetic changes, such as the absence of a camera module. Even the metallic material feels more premium on this model. As we mentioned before, it looks more like a Note series device, and we can reinforce this statement by noting the S Pen which is even provided with its own slot in the lower part of the mobile body.
At the hardware level, there are important changes, such as RAM memory and storage, which this time reach 12GB and 1TB, respectively. In this sense, the memory configurations are the following:
- 8GB + 128GB
- 12GB + 256GB
- 12 + 512GB
- 12GB + 1TB
Also, the battery receives a slight increase to reach 5,000mAhalthough yes, the charging power remains at 45W.
The photographic section also receives important improvements, mainly a 108MP sensor capable of 8K filming and with a new version of its pixel combination technology (Pixel Binning). The remaining lenses correspond to a 12MP wide-angle sensor, a 10MP telephoto with 3X optical zoom and another telephoto with the same resolution, but with a zoom of up to 100x (hybrid).
The front camera is not left out and raises its resolution from 10 to 40MP (f / 2.2).
Availability and price
As of March 11, 2022, Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ will be available at Samsung.com and other popular retailers for a starting price of 859 euros and 1,059 euros, respectively. For his part, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is sold from 1,259 euros (8/128GB) and can cost up to 1,658 euros in its higher capacity variant (12GB/1TB).
