The Voxelab Aquila S2 is built like any other entry-level Cartesian printer, in fact its design is very similar to its predecessor, so there are no surprises for owners of the older model.

With that said, it is worth mentioning that the machine consists of tensors incorporated in the X/Y axes, allowing for easy adjustment. After the initial setup, there should be no need for any further adjustment, but if it ever does, this will make the process quite simple.

In another order of ideas, the printer has a 4.3″ full color display. The menu is fairly simple and has just the right amount of functionality without being overly complicated, the downside is that it’s not a touch screen, it’s controlled with an old-fashioned knob.

Going into details, any self-respecting 3D printer handles the most classic filaments such as PETG, PLA and ABS very well, but not all of them are apt to deal with complex filaments such as nylon, carbon fiber or polycarbonate, which produce finished prints. smoother and better resistance. For those cases we will need a printer capable of handling high temperatures, and this is where the Voxelab Aquila S2 with a direct extruder and a nozzle capable of withstanding temperatures up to 300 °C.

Thanks to that detail, the machine can print with a wide variety of filaments ranging from PLA, ABS, PETG and TPU until you get to PLA-CF, PETG-CF, PET-CF, PA12-CF and finally PA.

With that said, the Voxelab Aquila S2 offers a 220 x 220 x 240mm build volume and a build speed of up to 180mm/s, which isn’t bad for a printer of its price point.

However, not everything can be rosy and the Aquila S2 is no exception to the rule. In this sense, the printer lacks automatic leveling, so we will have to calibrate the heated bed manually unless we purchase a separate probe.

Another weakness is the printing surface of the heated bed, which is a flexible and magnetic PEI textured sheet. In theory, this solution should guarantee a good adherence and extraction of the figures, but in practice it suffers from adherence problems, so we will need some type of glue for the prints.
