Design Tronsmart Halo 100

The Tronsmart Halo 100 is a portable speaker, but at the same time not so portable, that is, we can take it anywhere, but we must take into account that it measures 287 x 198 x 150mm. To help us move it, it It features a convenient handle on top.

Tronsmart Halo 100

As you will see, the speaker has a floor-standing design with rounded corners and the controllers are surrounded by RGB LED rings with cool lighting effects that delight the eye. The body itself has a black plastic case, a metal grill and a rubberized tactile surface on top, meanwhile, the carrying strap is made of faux leather and adds a classy touch to the speaker.

At the top of the Halo 100 we will run into physical buttons. In addition to the usual controls, we also find the SoundPulse sound mode change buttons, stereo pairing connection and the LED mode change button.

Design

With all that said, the speaker gets a IPX6 certification grade against the elements, which means it can get wet, but not submerged (obviously). However, it does not have any kind of resistance to dust, so we would not recommend taking it to the beach, but to the pool. If you’re wondering where the ports are located, they’re on the lower rear of the body, fully shielded by a thick layer of rubber.

How about the sound?

To answer that question, we need to make it clear that the Tronsmart Halo 100 has a 1.22-inch tweeter, two 2.09-inch mid-tweeters, a 4.53-inch woofer, and a 5.6-inch passive radiator. This set generates 60W output and has a frequency range of 40Hz to 20kHz.

The volume level is not bad at all, without tuning we can reach 100dB and no noticeable distortion (at least outdoors), but for a purer experience it is preferable to leave it at 94dB. Be that as it may, for a speaker in this price range, that is impressive and enough to provide sound for small parties or meetings, both indoors and outdoors.

Sound

Unfortunately not everything is rosy, and this speaker sins by the fact that only supports SBC codecwhich means that you cannot take advantage of high-resolution audio sources via Bluetooth.

The same way, SoundPulse technology does not produce as good results in this speaker how the manufacturer paints them for us. Going into details, it has good bass, but the mids are clearly overlapping, although they still sound good compared to the treble.

connectivity

As you can guess, the main method of connection is via Bluetooth 5.3 wirelessly, but the Tronsmart Halo 100 comes with the advantage that it supports multi-point pairing to connect two devices simultaneously. Another advantage is the possibility of connecting a second Halo 100 speaker to produce a true stereo sound (True Wireless Sound).

stereo pairing

Additionally, we can connect any other audio source through the 3.5mm jack. There is also the option to record music on a flash drive or microSD card and play it from the corresponding slots on the back. So it’s a pretty complete package.

Application

Like any self-respecting speaker of this brand, the Tronsmart Halo 100 can be controlled from the Tronsmart mobile application. We can from updating the firmware of the speaker to checking the battery and controlling music playback; but by far the most useful feature is the sound equalizerwhich gives us a choice between presets such as Rock, Classical music, Sound Pulse and Deep Bassnot to mention the possibilities to customize the equalizer to our liking and to switch between 5 light modes.

Battery

Finally, the Tronsmart Halo 100 is powered by a 12,000mAh battery that promises up to 18 hours of autonomy on a single charge. As you can imagine, the actual duration that the battery can give us depends on many factors, but at least we can confirm that they can be achieved. 15 hours consistently with 50% volume and the LED lighting is active at all times, which is not bad at all. On the other hand, the recharging time is 5.5 hours and the process occurs via USB-C.

A little detail that we cannot forget to mention is that the speaker can be used as a Powerbank to charge other devices. It is a slow charge (5V/2A), but it can get us out of trouble, so it is appreciated.

Availability and price of the Tronsmart Halo 100

Those interested in the Tronsmart Halo 100 can purchase it through the Amazon.co.uk storebut it can also be found Available at Geekbuying.com for a competitive price. As in all opportunities, we recommend consulting both offers before making a decision.

On the other hand, if you are looking for something more compact (like to carry in your backpack), but equally party-oriented, we can advise taking a look at the Tronsmart Bang SE.
