Tablets

The Nokia D1C is not a smartphone, but a tablet.

A few days ago we told you about the expected return of Nokia with a mid-range terminal that worked under Android and that pointed out good manners. What has been our surprise when the latest information tells us that we are not dealing with a smartphone, but with a medium / high-end tablet. Although we hope like May water that Nokia will hit the ground running with a new high-end terminal based on Android, the truth is that this launch does not take us too by surprise, since at the end of 2014 this Finnish company launched its first tablet on the market Android-based, its name was Nokia N1, and made use of an Intel CPU while also getting pretty good reviews and sales. This is what is known about Nokia D1C.

Geekbench filters out the Nokia D1C, for a change.

It has been the famous Geekbench performance test that once again has taken us out of doubts, since the previously known data about the Nokia D1C now the screen diagonal is added, which informs us of a total of 13.8 inch and it confirms that we are facing a tablet and not a smartphone. The resolution remains the same, so we will have a Full-HD panel of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

There are also no changes to the processor, since we would continue to have an SoC Snapdragon 430 composed of 8 Cortex A-53 cores@ 1.40 GHz and a GPU Adreno 505. The RAM memory is also confirmed, which remains as usual for the mid / high range of 2016 with a total of 3GB. Although the previous data spoke of a storage capacity of 32 GB, now we see a total of 16GB of which we will have a total of 9GB available, although it is most possible that we are talking about two different versions and when the Nokia D1C goes on the market both capacities will be available. Said storage will be expandable by means of a Micro-SD card.

The first leaks pointed to a 13MP camera and larger storage.

The other specifications of the Nokia D1C include a rear camera of 16 megapixels (despite the fact that the first leak spoke of 13MP), and an 8 megapixel front, both with the ability to record Full-HD video. One of the best features of the Nokia D1C will be to incorporate the operating system Android 7.0 Nougat, the latest from Google and that ensures a smooth and optimized operation. By contrast, those who expected a dual tablet with which to enjoy Windows, will have to look at other options on the market. And it is that this tablet points more towards a smartphone / tablet system than a tablet / laptop, and the proof of this is that it will include a slot for SIM card which will provide you with 4G LTE category 4 connectivity (150/50 Mbps download / upload) in addition to GPS.

For now, nothing is known about the price, versions or availability of the future Nokia tablet, but we do hope that the Nokia D1C be a competitive product and that will surely receive as good reviews as its predecessor. Of course, with more enthusiasm we still hope that Nokia will delight us with a flagship. Maybe I should take advantage of the fact that Samsung is going through a good bump to launch a groundbreaking phablet right? Dreaming is free.
