the signature really has been surprising us over time with mobile phones of all kinds. Little by little they have been taking out models in all ranges and prices, almost always with great results. Recently we were very lucky to try one of the best phones we’ve seen so far, the realme GT 2 Pro. In today’s review we return to the lower mid-range, a market niche that the Chinese brand has already dominated. In this case we have the Realme Narzo 50a device that seeks improvements in performance and meets in most sections. Will he have succeeded? Find out in this review.
Somewhat basic design
The design chosen for this mobile is very consistent with what is seen in other devices of the brand really, especially those that also have reduced prices. It can be seen in the materials and finishes, all in plastic, that we are facing a mobile that will not stand out for its attractiveness. Even so, the design is not bad, having the kevlar material inspiration as a great visual claim. The black version has come to us, but we believe that the blue option attracts more thanks to this type of finish.
Regarding its comfort, what we can say is that it is not very well thought out. The mobile is big, with 164.1 x 75.5 x 8.5mmalthough at least it is not excessively heavy, with its 194 grams. However, the case material is quite slippery and coupled with its dimensions can make it more difficult to handle. For this, we recommend that you use the silicone cover that is included in the package.
The buttons and ports are distributed as follows, below a speaker, type C connector and Jack, in addition to a microphone, on the right side the unlock button, which acts as a fingerprint reader, on the left up and down volume, as well as the hole of the SD, and above nothing. The rear camera protrudes a bit, while the front camera is in realme’s usual circular notch.
LCD screen with good refresh rate
The screen is a 6.6-inch IPS-LCD, a type of surface that differs greatly from some such as Amoled, which are usually of higher quality. We have already commented that the differences are in the viewing angles, the colors and the resistance, but, in general, the highest quality mobiles do not have this type of material. However, the screen of the realme Narzo 50 has more to offer us than the technology it uses. We are talking about a screen with resolution FullHD+ And six variable refresh rates that adapt to the use we give to our mobile, reaching a maximum of 120Hzvery rare in devices of this range.
Keep in mind that Realme has focused this launch on gaming, ensuring optimal performance, which we will talk about later, and a screen according to the needs of the game. With the refresh rate of 120 times per second, we can see everything very smoothly, making the task much easier. The differences with 60 Hz refresh screens are more than notable and this addition is greatly appreciated.
Camera set with light and dark
The problem that we have found when analyzing the cameras of this mobile is that there is no balance in the rear camera set. The realme Narzo 50 has a very good 50 MP main sensor, capable of capturing images of a very high quality in mobiles of this price range. And even with this great addition, the two support sensors fall very short, the first, a 2 MP macro for detail, which fails to capture amazing images. The other, a monochrome also 2 MP focused on black and white photos. They are not necessarily bad sensors, but they do not make the use of the camera more profitable and allow us to experiment.
Moving on to the front, we have 16 MP which is more than enough to take good quality selfies. Of course, we must take into account the light conditions so that we do not have visibility problems or saw teeth.
What we must grant to this mobile is that the number of modes included in the camera menu is quite large and the gameplay is rewarded. We cannot do great things due to the limitations of the sensors, but we can do others thanks to additions such as slow motion, time lapse, panorama or dual video. We leave you below a series of images captured with this mobile:
Noticeable improvement in performance
Before starting with the performance analysis, it should be noted that we have been able to test the version of 6 GB of RAM and 126 GB of internal memory, a version that has differences with cheaper models of the same mobile. After our tests, we can say that Realme has achieved an improvement in performance compared to mobile phones of the same range, especially the Chinese firm’s own devices. We have not been able to notice drops in FPS, continued LAG problems, or any other type of usual inconvenience in cheaper mobiles, and this is appreciated.
The chosen processor has been Mediatek Helio G96, which has responded better than expected. In addition, realme has included 6 GB of RAM plus 5 GB more virtual memory so that the processes continue to run with the best possible performance. Virtual RAM uses internal memory to keep getting the most out of your device. It is for this reason that realme has introduced slots to add up to a tera of storage.
It uses Android 11, which was expected, and the customization layer is the realme UI 2.0which is a step backwards considering that they have just released version 3.0, much more complete and attractive.
Connectivity and battery of the realme Narzo 50
The connections of this device are the basic ones in all types of mobile devices. By cable, USB type C and 3.5 mm Jack connection to listen to music through headphones. Wireless we have the Wifi, Bluetooth 5.1 and global navigation system. The lack of NFC is very noticeable, an extra that is more necessary every day and that we miss in the realme Narzo 50. In addition, the rest of the connections are in already outdated versions, but we understand that we have to cut from somewhere and this is where it is least noticeable.
The battery is an aspect that Realme takes great care of in all its models, and this has not been the exception. We are facing a battery that is quite powerful in itself, since with its 5000mAh ensures a fairly high continuous use. But, in addition, they offer us a 33W Dart fast charge that, despite not being the best we have seen, recharges the mobile at high speed and makes the daily use of the device much easier.

Availability and price of realme Narzo 50
In general, we are facing a mobile in which opinions vary depending on how we analyze it. We can take into account that it is a low-medium range model that offers more than others within this same market sector. However, we can also see it as a step backwards in many aspects by the Chinese firm, although it is clear that cuts must be made. In our opinion, the Realme Narzo 50 It is a very affordable mobile that meets in most sections. It takes a leap in performance, has a basic but attractive design and a good main camera. For all this, we grant you the Silver Giz Award with a B, a pretty good grade.
