The American apple has recently updated all its operating systems, bringing them to their versions iOS 16.3.1, iPadOS 16.3.1, tvOS 16.3.2, macOS 13.2.1 and watchOS 9.3.1; Similarly, there is an update planned for the system audios, the operating system for HomePod. With that said, this time we will focus on the novelties that it brings iOS 16.3.1which as you can imagine from the version number, there are not many, but they are still necessary to guarantee the stability of the system through bug fixes and security improvements.
iOS 16.3.1: What’s new
Again, don’t expect much from this update as there are no new features as such, just bug fixes and improvements. Going into details, fixed an issue related to iCloud settings that occurs when there are apps using iCloud, causing it to become unresponsive or erratic.
The same way, fixed a bug that could prevent Siri requests for Find My.
Not all are bug fixes, as Apple also reported in the list of changes that were made improvements to crash detection on iPhone 14 and 14 Pro.
On safety matter, memory management was improved to fix a use-after-release issue. This is relevant as it allowed an app to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. Be that as it may, this vulnerability no longer exists as of iOS 16.3.1.
With all that said, all these changes that iOS 16.3.1 brings to the table are also present in iPadOS 16.3.1 and the devices eligible for said update start from iPhone 8 onwards. In the case of iPad, the update can be installed on all iPad Pro models, as well as the standard iPad and Mini from fifth generation onwards. For the iPad Air, a 3rd generation or later model is required.
