Huawei to launch HarmonyOS beta in December

The change of government in the United States is making many wonder what will happen to the conflict generated with China in recent months, although logically the main technology companies affected cannot wait for changes. For example, Huawei is going ahead with its plans for a new operating system on its smartphones: HarmonyOS.

The impossibility of obtaining the official Android certification that gives it access to Google services has led Huawei to quickly work on a new platform for their mobiles and they have already ensured that Trump’s exit from the US presidency will not change the path started more than a year ago. Thus, next month some developers will already be able to test HarmonyOS.

HarmonyOS begins testing around 2021

Huawei Mate 40 would be the first to upgrade to HarmonyOS

According to Wang Chenglu, president of the software department of Huawei Consumer Business Group, This open source platform will begin to be available to developers from December 18, so they will have several weeks to perform different tests in a closed environment before the launch of a public beta in the second quarter of 2021.

The goal of the Chinese giant is that 90% of the company’s smartphones should be supported to receive the update to Harmony OS once it is certain that its performance is completely reliable. Probably the official launch of the operating system will be with new Smartphones that the brand launches throughout the second half of 2021.

Likewise, it is mentioned that the platform for the moment will be compatible with devices that have a RAM memory of up to 4 GB, but as of next year this limitation would be eliminated. So, the first phones to be updated would be those with the Kirin 9000 processor as is the case with the Huawei Mate 40 line announced last October, while then it would be the turn of the Huawei P40 model with the Kirin 990 5G chipset.

You believe that HarmonyOS will be well received by the public accustomed to Android?
