Huawei FreeBuds 5i: we tested Huawei’s new high-resolution sound

huawei freebuds 5i.jpg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Huawei has just launched its new Huawei FreeBuds 5i. They are headphones that destroy the competition with a brutal quality-price ratio and that are supported by high-resolution sound, noise cancellation that adapts to our needs at all times and superlative autonomy. They have already passed through our ears and we want to tell you everything about them in this analysis in Spanish.

Design of the Huawei FreeBuds 5i

Available in color black, blue or whiteThe first thing that stands out about this model is that they have a pebble design and textured surface, for which inkjet coating has been used. Matte effect (something that we love since fingerprints and reflections are avoided) and a very pleasant touch, it retains the design lines that we already knew in its predecessors, the Huawei FreeBuds 4i.

They are very light, weighing only 4.9 grams per earphone, but also more comfortable than the aforementioned FreeBuds 4i, since they have shortened the length of the “stick”, staying at just 29 mm in length, without losing ergonomics or comfort. They are in-ear type, a format that I personally don’t like, but which is the favorite of most users because of the isolation it offers. As I said, it is not the format that I like the most, but they are much more comfortable than other models, so it shows that Huawei has worked on this aspect.

They offer us gesture controlwhich we can customize from the app Huawei AILife. Thus, we can use them, for example, to stop the music or even as a remote trigger for the mobile camera.

Finally, in the design section we can mention that they have IP54. It is a type of resistance that guarantees durability against dust and splashes (rain, sweat…).

Sound quality: LDAC codec and hybrid noise cancellation

It is very important that true wireless headphones are comfortable, but above all it is important that they sound good. And at this point, these Huawei FreeBuds 5i fulfill their role perfectly.

offers us a High-resolution sound, with Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification, LDAC HD codec and Multi-EQ effects. What does all this mean in practice? We have a fairly good sound quality considering that they are not premium headphones, with a more than high volume level (I have never used them to the maximum) and with good clarity. We can customize the effects, to reinforce treble or bass, depending on our tastes.

Hybrid noise cancellation is another of the sections that is worth highlighting. we can cancel up to 42dB of environmental noise and equips a dual microphone so that it not only works well when we are listening to music, but also so that we can make calls with total clarity. This is also supported by the AI algorithm that is capable of improving the voice and neutralizing noise.

From the Huawei AI Life app we can choose what type of cancellation we want: Ultra, General or Cozy. We don’t need the same type of noise cancellation in a train station as we do in an office, for example.

Battery and connectivity

Another function that we have used most of these Huawei FreeBuds 5i is its dual connection. We can link them, for example, to the computer and the mobile phone, in this way, listen to music on our PC and automatically switch to the mobile when we receive a call. Are compatible with Android, iOS and Windows.

Linking is done through Bluetooth 5.2which offers us a stable and long-distance connection.

Finally, we cannot fail to mention its battery. With a capacity of 410mAh in the charging case and 55mAh in the headphones, it provides us up to 28 hours Y up to 7.5 hours of autonomy, respectively. Loading is done via USB-Cwe will need almost two hours to fully charge the charging case and an hour to charge the headphones inside the box. If you’re in a hurry, with just 15 minutes of charging we can have up to 4 additional hours of autonomy.
