Honor 50, opinions, review and analysis of this smartphone
The mid-high range of telephony is full of good devices, with great features and good designs. Today we are going to discover a phone that has surprised us a lot, and this is the Honor 50. We have been lucky enough to analyze other devices of this brand, such as the HonorBand 6, and we wanted to see what its latest launch in the smartphone market was like. Read on to find out what features and additions make it stand out from the competition, as well as our final opinion of the product.
One of the best designs we have seen
The visual aspect is one of the best that the Honor 50 has and is appreciated from the moment you take the device out of the box. The curved edges that we will talk about later, the size that it has, with 159.96 × 73.76 × 7.78 millimetersand its weight of only 175 gramsmake it one of the most impressive phones on the market due to its design.
It is very comfortable to use because its lightness, accompanied by a series of metallic plastic materials with better grip than most, make it a very manageable model. In addition, a problem with this type of material is usually that they are a bit dirty. Well, with this one in particular we have noticed much less fingerprints. Although you can always opt for the option of the silicone cover that makes it much safer. The colors offered are emerald, silver and a color code with the brand’s signature.
The distribution of buttons, connectors and other options It is arranged as follows: nothing on the left, unlock and volume on the right, two microphones above, USB type C connector below, another micro, a speaker and the SIM card. The screen, which we will talk about next, has a hole for the fingerprint reader and for the front camera, and, on the back, the brand’s signature and the main camera set.
The curved screen of the Honor 5o
If there is something that stands out from the first moment, it is that we met before a curved screen. The edges of this device are curved to give it a very personal touch of premium quality, since it is something that we have seen in high-end mobiles. In addition, it has a very clear practical functionality and that is to give you wider viewing angles as well as a larger information display surface.
The technology used is OLEDwith a surface size of 6.57 inches and a Full HD + resolution of 2400 x 1080. The selected refresh rate is 120 Hz, so mobile navigation, loading screens and the games themselves should look much better and much more accurate. The response to light has delighted us, since it looks very good whatever the circumstance, also taking into account that the colors look very vivid.
A very complete set of cameras
We are liking everything in this mobile, and with its cameras it could not be different. We find a main camera module with four sensors that complete a very good photography set.
The main sensor is 108 MP, very powerful, that allows us to carry out all kinds of general photography with great results. We continue with a 8 MP wide angle, with this we can do landscaping or larger images. The next one we are going to talk about is the 2 MP macro sensor, this is used to take detailed photos at very short distances from the subject being photographed. Finally, it has a 2 MP bokeh or blur lens. All the sensors work in common to be able to take good photographs, with sharpness and quality in detail.
Finally, we have to talk about the front camera. It also has a high power for the market standard, since with its 32 MP it manages to process images with great results. It is more than enough to take clear selfies with good color capture, although we recommend that the light conditions are ideal. Next, we leave you a small gallery with images that we have been able to capture with this camera:
How does the Honor 50 perform?
At some point this mobile had to lower the level, and this has been the performance. However, we must bear in mind that it drops in level compared to the rest of the sections that are at an almost unbeatable level. It is true that performance tests show dips when the Honor 50 is at its maximum. Even so, it more than allows a common use for tasks, games of usual requirements or when working with the device.
It uses a very common Qualcom processor for mid-range, such as the Snapdragon 778G. With him works a memory 6GB RAM, enough for a phone of these characteristics and price. It works fine, it’s nothing remarkable, but we like it, considering that we will rarely require extreme performance.
Finally, speaking of ROM memory, or the Storage capacity, we have two options. The first is 128 GB, and the second is 256 GB, therefore, it is clear that there will be a clear price difference and you will have to choose what interests you the most.
Connectivity and battery
The connections of the Honor 50 follow the trend imposed in the sector, although it must be admitted that everything it includes is up to date. By cable we find ourselves with the only option of USB Type-C, so we miss the headphone jack connection. This will cause us to share the USB hole, which can always be an impediment. Wireless we find the best versions, WIFI 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS and NFC, being able to do any operation from our mobile. They rely, as expected, on 5G, which is becoming more and more widespread.
As for the battery, it is true that the battery is nothing to write home about, with 4500mAh. However, it ensures a use of more or less a day, as long as we do not have the phone performing at its maximum. But what really stands out is the 66W fast charge with which we can have the battery fully charged in a few minutes of recharging.
