Haylou GT1 Plus, cheap TWS headphones with many possibilities

The Chinese company Haylou brings us a new version of their successful wireless headphones, which are now named after Haylou GT1 Plus. It is an update that, although it maintains the same external appearance, does introduce some internal innovations that improve the sound quality, the stability of the Bluetooth connection and the battery life. All of it at a price that’s hard to beat.

Haylou GT1 Plus, adaptable to your ears

These TWS headphones that comes in black, they have a medium size, but they barely weigh 3.9 grams each. So you will barely feel them when you wear them. As you can see in the photos, on the outside they have not changed anything compared to the first version. Don’t worry if you have something big left, because other silicone pads of different sizes are included in the box, so you can use the ones that best suit your ears.

Very small charging case

Haylou GT1 Plus, case

The charging case that accompanies these Haylou GT1 Plus headphones is very small and compact.

In relation to charging case that accompany these Haylou GT1 Plus headphones, it has to be said that It is much smaller than we had imagined. Apart from being very compact, it does not reach 30 grams, so you can carry it comfortably in your pants pocket.

IPX5 certification

One good thing about these Bluetooth headphones is that you can take them to train, whether you go to the gym or run. The fact that they have IPX5 certification, guarantees that they are resistant to sweat and splashes of water.

Touch panel

Thanks to your Touch panel, you will only need small touches to enjoy its main functions. With a touch we will control the reproduction. If we give two touches we will go to the next song (right) or the previous one (left). Pressing three times in a row we will access the voice assistant (Siri or the Google Assistant). And if a call comes in, we can answer with a double tap, or reject it, by holding down the button for one second. It is a pity that to raise or lower the volume we have to resort to mobile.

TWS technology

TWS technology will allow us to use these Haylou GT1 Plus without any type of cable, completely wireless. One of the advantages it has is that each headset can be used separately. Once we pair them with our mobile device, later we will no longer have to synchronize them, because they will do so automatically when they are removed from the box.

Haylou GT1 Plus, voice assistants

These TWS headphones are compatible with Siri and the Google Assistant.

Compatible with AAC Dual HD and AptX

Now is the time to talk about connectivity. The biggest “leap” at the hardware level is due to the incorporation of the Qualcomm’s QCC3020, a next-generation chip that achieves a more stable connection and much faster data transmission. Further is compatible with AAC Dual HD and AptX codecs. The wireless technology it uses is Bluetooth under protocol 5.0, which uses much less energy than the previous version. Likewise, latency when using streaming platforms, such as YouTube, has been significantly reduced.

Sound quality

Each Haylou GT1 Plus headset features a 7.2mm diameter driver and made from organic materials, which gives us the opportunity to enjoy a more balanced sound. Although they sound good, some users have complained that the maximum volume is not enough, staying lower than we would like. Both the mids and the highs sound good, but the lows lack a bit more intensity. Even so, for the price they have they are not bad at all.

DSP + CVC noise cancellation

At the software level, uses an active noise cancellation system called DSP, which is responsible for measuring the microphone signal and effectively eliminating noise components, delivering a clear and crisp voice. On the other hand, comes equipped with CVC technology, which is designed to reduce ambient noise, thereby enhancing the caller’s voice. It doesn’t work miracles, but it helps.

18 hours of autonomy

One of the reasons that can “push” us to buy these wireless headphones is their autonomy. With a recharge you will have 5 hours of continuous playback. And the case (310 mAh) offers another 12 hours. So that total listening time is around 18 hours. What we did not like about this “box” are two details: one, that it does not have a battery indicator; and another, that instead of USB-C port, they come with a micro USB connector. Two aspects that we hope will correct in future updates. Charging the case will take around 2.5 hours. While the headphones recharge in an hour and a half or so.

If we compare this model with the Haylou GT1 original, we will see how it has gained autonomy. And it is that the latter did not exceed 12 hours of use. They are also not compatible with aptX technology, which allows you to send music with the original quality, thus avoiding the typical bottleneck caused by the Bluetooth bandwidth.
