HarmonyOS 2.0, the first public beta of the Huawei OS is now available

The wait has come to an end Huawei has started the first public beta of its operating system developed at home, HarmonyOS 2.0, which is already undergoing testing in China for select company devices.

Although only users in China can access the beta program, this marks the first step in the launch of Huawei’s operating system, which seeks to permanently abandon Android and thus become completely independent from Google.

HarmonyOS 2.0 What devices are supported?

Well at the moment only the smartphones of the series Huawei P40 and Mate30 are compatible with the beta of HarmonyOS 2.0, as well as the Huawei MatePad Pro, but as we mentioned at the beginning, it is only available in China.

We must say that heThe interface is very similar to that of EMUI 11, and with good reason, since they are developed under the same framework and there’s really no need to reinvent the wheel, or in this case, redesign a UI that many are used to.

Likewise, we can also expect the new OS to be compatible with Android applications, although there is clearly a focus on moving everything related to apps to the Huawei AppGallery.

In this vein, Huawei has confirmed that eventually all smartphones with EMUI 11 will receive the option to upgrade to HarmonyOS 2.0 via OTA, but the day has not yet come. Also, it is rumored that this could be the last iteration of EMUI before making the big leap to HarmonyOS.

On the other hand, it is pending to confirm the arrival of the beta to other territories, although clearly this will not happen soon, so we will have to wait for next year.

And in other news, the first device to arrive with this factory installed system should be the Huawei P50 according to Chinese media, but it remains to be seen.
