Garmin Fenix 6S Pro, video with our tests of this watch

Watches have always been a very precious commodity for many, given their usefulness and ability to act as a complement when it comes to dressing. Today we have become accustomed to those watches that, in addition, have a very wide functional capacity. Today we are going to talk about a smart watch that has caught our attention, the Garmin Fenix 6S Pro. It is not the first smartwatch of the brand that we analyzed, in fact we already saw the great results that the Garmin Phoenix 6, for example. But, What else does the range have to offer Garmin to outdo herself? In this review we will try to answer all the questions that may arise, we will influence its design and we will analyze the functions available in one of the fashion watches.

Design, a commitment to simplicity

The look of Garmin Fénix 6S Pro It is perhaps one of the simplest factors within a device with quite complex sections, due to the large number of options. In this sense, we are going to take the exterior appearance as a design, as well as some components that give it certain resistance. In later sections we will talk about what this device really hides in terms of functionality and connections.

This smartwatch has a fairly simple structure. With your measurements of 43mm high, by 13.8mm deep, in fact it’s relatively small. This is not a bad thing at all, since it has enough frontal space to perfectly understand the screen without affecting the wearer’s maneuverability and comfort. However, if we see it somewhat wider than it should, something that is not surprising considering the amount of extras it carries. Weighs about 61 grams, which also doesn’t make it a very heavy watch, and it’s perfect for everyday wear.

The electronic screen, 1.2 ”, is lit by one of the buttons on the left, which also contains the movement and navigation buttons. On the right are the function selection button, and the reverse button, to return to previous options.

Is it pretty to look at? Well, it will depend on taste, like everything else, but it meets the aesthetic minimums required by any user. Go on a sports line, giving the feeling of complete security against any unforeseen event. And in fact it has military resistance to bumps and splashes, thanks to its silicone materials for the strap and body of the watch, as well as a stainless steel bezel, which also adds seriousness.

Features

We continue with the functions and modes of this smart watch. This is one of the differential factors of the model, since the number of options it has are many. There is practically no physical activity that cannot be controlled by the Fénix 6S Pro. Here is a gallery with a small summary of the main functions of the device:

Everything is very supported by the application that Garmin has developed for mobile phones, the Garmin Connect. It is an App for people who enjoy exploring all the options, although it is true that you can do something heavy at the beginning when you have to configure and connect all the functions to a compatible device. However, once you get the hang of it, it is very useful and works in conjunction with the watch very efficiently.

Connectivity and compatibilities

To begin with this section, we are going to know what are the possible connections that we can carry out with the clock. It has connection Wifi, not in its latest versions, but taking into account that its use is not going to be the same as that of a mobile device, we will not really notice the difference. Another option is ANT +, a system similar to Bluetooth, in a wireless way that is very common in devices of this type. Last but not least, the NFC, which, as we have already mentioned, serves, above all, to make payments and data transfers with the smartwatch instantly. What do we get out of all this? Well, a very independent device, which does not require a mobile phone for efficient and complete operation. It is complementary with other types of devices, and that is something to be appreciated.

As for the compatibilities, it is important to say that it works the same with Android and with ios. This is important since the mobile phone is usually the device with which we use this type of watch. However, data can also be stored and studied on computers, thanks to compatibility with Windows Y MAC OS X. It may seem silly, but compatibility is something we noticed once we started using this type of watch on a day-to-day basis and not everyone has it, and this is where the quality of the Garmin Fénix 6S Pro is noticeable.

Latest generation solar battery

One of the features that the Garmin Fénix 6S Pro has, in its Solar version, is the author battery rechargeable through sunlight. This extra, added to a battery in itself, quite powerful, means that the user does not have to be very aware of running out of a watch at a bad time. In smartwatch mode, which would come to be standard use, the device has an autonomy of about 9 days indoors, or 10.5 days when used in bright sunlight. Activating the GPS, the thing changes, since indoors it will last us a few 25 hours on battery, or 28 hours taking advantage of solar charging.

Either way, the battery is above the average life of the brand itself and that of most of the competition, so this section has a lot of merit. It is true that the use of GPS is essential on specific days, when perhaps a march is going to be carried out and we need to collect information. Nevertheless, 25/28 hours are more than enough, being very unlikely that we will not have anywhere to plug the clock once we have finished the task. In addition, for the most standard accessory use, the battery will not give us problems for weeks.

Availability and price of the Garmin Fénix 6S Pro

After analyzing this smart watch, we can only wonder if it is really worth buying. Being a high-end device, opinions will always be very different and we have to give ours taking into account the use that each one wants to give it. If you are a sports fan who has been looking for a watch prepared for any type of activity for a long time, this is your model. But if what you want is a watch for standard use, that meets design requirements and tracks you moderately, it may be an overspending.

Even so, in general this is one of the best options on the market in terms of quality, since in most of its facets it is above average. For this reason we grant you the Gizlogic Silver Award, but with a note that almost borders on gold. That the screen is not touch and the clear drop in the battery with GPS function are the factors that have moved it away from perfection.
