Dimensity 7050, MediaTek puts more power in the mid-range

The Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer, MediaTek, has presented a chipset for the mid-range that promises “a smooth gaming experience with exceptional energy efficiency”, we are talking about the MediaTek Dimensity 7050. Going into details, this chip has a 6nm lithography and 5G modem, but it is not exactly what we would call new, since a close inspection of its specifications reveals that it is a copy of the mid-range Dimensity 1080 that was launched at the end of 2022.

Be that as it may, MediaTek’s Dimensity 7050 is a chip with eight cores, where 2 of them are high performance ARM Cortex A78 clusters running at 2.6Ghz. The remaining 6 cores are Cortex-A55 and run at 2.0Ghz, so they serve a task of energy efficiency. For its part, the GPU is an ARM MALI-G68 MC4. At the support level, it gets along well with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage

This SoC (system on a chip) can handle sensors with resolution up to 200MP and 4K video shooting with HDR. As if that were not enough, it supports improvements through artificial intelligence for Bokeh effects and selective focus.

Similarly, it is worth mentioning that supports displays with a resolution of up to 2,520 x 1,080 pixels and 120Hz refresh rate, so we see it being used in affordable gaming phones.

Important to note that the chip includes Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and 5G connectivity in dual SIM from the factory.

If you wish to consult the rest of its technical specifications, here is the official page of MediaTekbut as we mentioned before, it is not exactly a new chip.

With all that said, the first mobile that will make use of the Dimensity 7050 will be the Lava Agni 2 5Gwhich is apparently an India exclusive, but we hope to see it in the near future powering many entry-level and mid-range smartphones.
