BMAX Y11 Plus, a convertible laptop with refined style and tempting price

The BMAX Y11 Plus it’s a cost-efficient notebook that offers refined styling combined with a 360-degree convertible design, which means you can use the handset as a tablet if you so choose. However, it’s important to keep in mind that this is a humble spec kit and we can only recommend it to those looking for a basic everyday computing experience.

In this sense, the BMAX Y11 Plus mounts an 11.6-inch FHD touch screen and is powered by the Intel Jasper Lake N5100 chip in combination with 8GB of RAM. It’s compact, lightweight, and boasts a metallic finish, all for a price below the $350 mark, which is really tempting if you’re looking for a device to take with you to school, the office, or perhaps on the road.

On the other hand, if you’re just looking for an Android-based tablet, we might be able to recommend the BMAX I11 from this same manufacturer.

A convertible design

Certainly the first thing we can highlight about this laptop is its 360° degree convertible design, which allows it to take the form of a tablet, a tent, and something in between. However, this is just a gesture to attract attention, since at the end of the day the most useful positions are always the tablet and the computer position.

The convertible design is not the only striking thing about the BMAX Y11 Plus, as his body is well made and stands out for its compact size and lightness. In this order of ideas, it has a thickness of only 1.3mm and weighs only 1KG.

design and construction

The choice of materials is really commendable, given that we are talking about a casing made of aluminum alloy that permeates most of the body. We say most as the hinges are all-metal and the keyboard rest is made of plastic. Similarly, the power and volume buttons that lie on the left edge are made of the same plastic material, but they feel robust and do not shake.

It should be noted that it uses passive cooling, that is, It does not have a fan and therefore it is very quiet.. The downside is that it doesn’t allow the processor to maintain its maximum performance for very long and that obviously more heat is perceived at the bottom, an average of 45°C to be precise, which is not unreasonable for this class of devices.

convertible design

Changing the subject a bit the keyboard is not full sizebut it does its job decently. Unfortunately it can be a bit difficult to see the keys, especially the function key, which is light blue. It is also not a Spanish keyboard, so there is no letter Ñ marked.

Screen

The screen is an 11.6-inch IPS panel that offers a decent FHD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. It should be noted that it is a touch panel with 10 pressure points and coverage of the range 72% NTSC.

It’s not an amazing panel, but for the price it’s fine, even considering that not fully laminated, which implies that there is some palpable separation between the screen and the glass, but fortunately it is little and does not affect the response of the panel much. Brightness is acceptable indoors, from 270 nits but it is not enough if we want to use it under direct light, because light refractions are appreciated.

BMAX Y11 Plus - Display

the team too boasts slim 8.80mm bezels, but that is only on the sides, since it has a quite prominent chin that breaks with the modern finish that is sought in this team. In said chin we will find the webcam, terribly positioned near the far right. To add salt to the wound, its video recording quality is poor and limited to 15FPS, so it will hardly do any good.

hardware and features

The BMAX Y11 Plus is not a powerful device that we want to use for heavy tasks, but it guarantees an acceptable experience for basic computing. That said, his nerve center is a Intel® Jasper Lake Celeron N5100 Quad Core 2.8Ghz Threads. It is accompanied by an integrated 11th generation Intel UHD GPU, so it can decode 4K video at 60FPS with total smoothness.

BMAX Y11 Plus - Hardware and Features

They accompany the chip 8GB of RAM, but on a single channel, which limits the maximum performance that the CPU can offer. When it comes to internal storage, it consists of a 256GB SATA SSD of which 190GB is free after installing all Windows updates and basic applications.

The set is powered by a 5,000mAh battery whose duration leaves a lot to be desired, we are talking about 3 to 4 hours at best and that is with the screen brightness at half.

BMAX Y11 Plus - Use Cases

As we mentioned before, it is not a powerful team, and the Geekbench Benchmarks confirm this, where it obtains only 1,632 points in the Multi-Core test and 614 in the single core.

In another order of ideas, the operating system on duty is Windows 10 64-bitbut fortunately the BMAX Y11 Plus meets all the requirements for upgrade to Windows 11.

connectivity

To be an economical laptop, the BMAX Y11 Plus is not bad in this aspect, it has Dual band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2, while on the wired front it has a modern USB-C port with Power Delivery 2.0 (PD) that can be used to charge equipment or as video output.

BMAX Y11 Plus - Connectivity

However, it has a dedicated power port and also an output. Micro-HDMI. There is an additional USB port, although this is Micro USB 3.0, which can be a major limitation for those who need full-size USB ports. Lastly, it has a Micro-SD slot for memory cards and a 3.5mm combo jack.
