Apple gets away with it and delays changes to the App Store indefinitely

When we finally thought we had seen the end of the Legal battle between Epic Games and Apple over purchases outside the App StoreIt turns out that the American apple still has one card to play. In this sense, after a US court ruled in favor of Epic Games, Apple was supposed to be obliged to allow developers to implement alternative means of payment to the App Store; which would effectively end their monopoly on in-app purchases.

The sentence passed, Apple appealed it without success and legally had until December 9 of this year 2021 to comply with it. However, no one was counting on the astuteness of Apple’s lawyers, who argued that “It will take months to solve the engineering, economic, commercial and other problems” that come with this big change to the App Store.

Apple avoids changes to the App Store … for now

It seems that the silver tongue of company lawyers has been enough to dissuade the court, as they consider that “Apple has shown, at a minimum, that its appeal raises serious questions about the merits of the district court’s determination that Epic Games, Inc. did not demonstrate that Apple’s conduct violated any antitrust laws, but did demonstrate that the same conduct violated California’s Unfair Competition Law. “

As a result, the court has granted Apple an indefinite extension until the appeal is resolved per se; which effectively gives the green light to the App Store to continue operating as usual for at least a few months, according to the words of the lawyers.

Obviously, the Cupertino firm does not want to comply with this sentence, and as can be seen, it will do everything in its power to prevent these changes, but Can you keep running from the sentence forever? Only time will tell.
