If, whether for work reasons, because you are a “crazy” about extreme sports or simply because you move normally in environments where the terrain or weather conditions are difficult, you are in need of a “rugged” phone, you have found the right page. And this article is dedicated to AGM X3, an ultra-resistant smartphone, which is probably the most powerful in its niche. This device, apart from bringing an enviable Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, surprises us with a pair of JBL speakers and an elegance that is unbecoming of its class. There is no doubt that this device represents a qualitative leap compared to AGM X1The first in the series, it stood out with a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED screen.

AGM X3, maximum resistance

We started by saying that the Chinese manufacturer boasts in style of the great resistance of this equipment. On the one hand, because it has the IP68 certification, which make it a waterproof mobile (submersible to 1.5 meters) and developed dustproof. On the other, it has MIL-STD-810G certification. This means, among other things, that it can withstand very low and extremely high temperatures, which can range from -30 ° C to 55 ° C. Also, note that withstands drops up to 1.21 meters high, which is a guarantee against any blow.

This AGM smartphone is IP68 and MIL-STD-810G certified.

Large, but comfortable in the hand

The terminal itself is large, but much less coarse and thick (although it is 10.5 mm thick) than other “off-road” models that we have previously reviewed. The four rounded corners are striking, which are conveniently protected with “bumpers” so that it can withstand any impact. In this AGM X3 the company’s engineers have managed to reduce the weight compared to previous versions, leaving it in 200 grams. Which is not bad for this type of phone.

FullHD + panel with Corning Gorilla Glass

This AGM X3 smartphone mounts a 5.99-inch diagonal screen (a full-blown phablet), with FullHD + resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels. This panel that uses the IPS technology, provides a pleasant viewing experience with good viewing at angles, a generous 1500: 1 contrast ratio and a brightness that reaches 500 cd / m². This screen also adds a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 glass and leaves the factory with a protector to further secure the panel. What we did not like is that the frames are quite sizeable.

Spectacular performance

AGM X3, processor

The AGM X3 offers excellent performance, thanks to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with eight cores.

As for the processor that is responsible for making this work AGM mobile phone, is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 with eight cores, which work at a maximum frequency of 2.8 GHz. This CPU is supported by a GPU Adreno 630, with which you will not resist any game. The version we are reviewing is accompanied by 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage space. Although there is also the possibility to choose three other combinations: 8/64 GB, 8/128 GB and 8/256 GB. If you have the most basic model and want to expand the capacity, you can use one microSD card up to 128GB.

Some fair cameras

The main camera of the AGM X3 is formed by a double sensor with artificial intelligence of 12 +24 megapixels with aperture f / 1.8. As you can imagine, it is not the most cutting edge mobile photography equipment, but at least acceptable photos are achieved. A detail that you have to know how to value is that a dedicated button in gold tone has been placed on the right side, so you can take pictures comfortably under water. Below this dual camera module we have a fingerprint reader Not being the fastest, it helps us to unlock the terminal safely. In front, This AGM phone is committed to a front sensor for selfies of 20 MP resolution, with facial recognition functionality.

Software and connections

The device is governed by Android 8.1 Oreo as standard, which provides great stability. But it is expected that the operating system can be updated to the latest version of Android via OTA. It also has 4G connectivity and dual SIM slot, which supports two SIM cards or one SIM along with a microSD card. Connectivity is completed with a USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 5.0 and dual-band WiFi. Within the specifications we find several positioning systems (GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS), NFC technology for mobile payments and OTG support. In this model, the classic 3.5 mm headphone jack has been dispensed with.

Drums and speakers

A 4,100 mAh battery has been used to power this AGM X3 that does not have the expected “stamina” (around 12 hours). But at least it is compatible with a Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging system. It also has a 10 watt wireless charging mode, an extra that is not very common in rugged phones. We are finishing this review, mentioning that this terminal is equipped with two JBL signed speakers that sound really good, with a power that can easily double the volume of many of its rivals, within this segment of resistant mobiles.
